This is a nice looking and decently made light for what you pay. Knocked off stars because of the odd way you are forced to use two or three extension rods for adjusting the drop length. No option to use only one extension rod for a higher installation without destructive modification. We just remodeled the kitchen in a 1970's house adding a large island. The ceilings are average height, just about 8 feet. If you use the minimum two rods per side the lamp is at a height above the island that looks fine, maybe just a touch lower than you'd want, but fine. Problem is, with this light you want to use the nice Edison bulbs that are mostly exposed. Additionally you generally want to use the newer bright LED variety over the dim yellow incandescents that traditional Edison bulbs are. I am 5' 9", and with the lamp set up with two rods the bright exposed bulbs are right at eye level. Very blinding. Yes, I have a dimmer, but what good is the light if I can't use it at a level that adequately lights the island and kitchen? There are two sizes of threads on the rod ends. Larger size to connect them together and a smaller size, accomplished by gluing in a threaded reducer, to attach the rods to the lamp on each end. The way they have chosen to arrange the rods / thread size you must use 2 or 3 per side. To use 1 rod per side I had to damage one rod by heating / cutting and removing the thread reducer and move it to another rod to make two rods sections that would allow a one extension per side set up. Hard to picture this, I know. Just understand that if you want this to be at a shorter length, you have to make some modifications that are likely beyond what many of the people that will purchase this fixture are willing to do. Electrician or general contractor may be needed if you don't have the tools and willingness to destroy one of the rods yourself. With one rod per side, the fixture is at the perfect height in my kitchen. Lights the island and surrounding area perfectly, looks good and isn't blinding. The fixture should just come this way. There is no good reason to not allow for the shorter, one rod per side, installation. I would have sent it back if I didn't otherwise like the look and need to get this project completed. If the maker would simply NOT use glue on the thread reducer, allowing the customer to easily move it without heat and a hack saw, the problem would be solved.Light is very good looking and you can adjust how high or low you would like the unit to hang.Great over my kitchen Sink in my 84” window. Would have liked an option for alittle shorter but it worked okay.Easy to install. Looks great over my new kitchen island. My son’s friend assembled it and installed it in about two hours. I am very happy with this purchase. I also invested in Edison dimmer bulbs and a new dimmer switch. We love it.Found brown spots on the globeI have a log home and I put 2 of these over my bathroom vanity and they give plenty of light. Looks awesome.Really nice light for over my center island, I bought super cute fairy filament bulbs. It looks amazing!I've purchased a bunch of lights in the last year " new home " . This was an inexpensive fixture - but not cheap. The quality of this light far exceed lights I've paid far more for. Best on-line purchase I've made! Thanks !!
