Easy to install, nice upgrade from old builder grade fixture.This flush mount LED strip light was easy to install , everything was straightforward. Hubby and I did it in about 15 minutes. If you don’t know how to , there are a ton of videos on YouTube on how to connect the ground and the other two cables in the mount. Just make sure you tape down the light switch so you don’t accidentally put it on and forget before you start the process of installing . That would be bad . I really love that these dim with the remote from super bright to warm . I wouldn’t know how to put in a dimmer switch , I think the remote is helpful but not really needed if you have this light on a dimmer switch or if you just like one setting and want to keep it that way .The company promised a long life , I’m getting all LED because we are getting older and I get very nervous when hubby needs to climb on the ladder to change a lightbulb . We also both had laser eye surgery and need more light now and like I mentioned before these go as bright as daylight so it’s easy to see when I’m cleaning the hallway now . It’s scary what you see when you have good lighting .This was actually a gift for my brother's house. he loves how beautiful it looks and how bright it is in his room.from a distance this light looks great, and it is not hard to put together but that's where the fun ends, i installed the mounting plate and found the angle had to be adjusted many times to get the light to be aligned with my wall after fighting that for a few minutes i managed to get the light mounted to the plate only to find the metal that the wings coming off the plate are made of very flimsy material causing the light to literally sag off my ceiling i fixed this by tightening the screws as far as i could then installing a few well hidden wooden blocks to pull it up to ceiling, i then moved on the to remote control, the instructions that came with it would have you believe it can be linked to an app which controls the light but this model doesn't have that feature they just throw the same instructions and remote into every box regardless of features that actually exist on the model you receive the remote would also have you believe this can be a color changing light (don't have a need for that in my kitchen so i really could care less, but the remote says it should do that and it doesn't). all those problems aside my wife thinks it looks good in our kitchen and we have set it at the color of light we wish it to be and it stays that color when we turn it on and off so i guess that's good enough for 3 stars if it stays working well for a few months il come back and give it another star UPDATE: not even a day later it wont hold the light setting i put it on after i turn it off , it always defaults back to soft whiteGreat light, very modern, love the style.It looks like this company makes a lot of really cool, inexpensive, modern LED lights. I chose this one because I have a low ceiling in my guest room and this is nearly flat. I love that it provides a variety of color temperatures and brightness. You need the remote, though, because you can't connect this to a dimmable switch (something about the currents and how the LED's work).When my electrician first saw this and unwrapped it from the box he seemed very confused because it looks like it has a lot of connected and complicated parts. Three minutes later he READ THE INSTRUCTIONS and it was all sorted out. He installed it very quickly and it said it was no problem.I was a little concerned when I bought it because lighting fashions change quickly. I honestly can't tell if this looks expensive or cheap, dated or modern, but I LIKE IT and my 13-year-old niece stayed in the guest room and said, "that light is so cool!". At the time of order, this ceiling light fixture was $157.99 and has since increased to $178.87.This is a stylish ceiling light that does a decently good job of illuminating a 3m x 4m bedroom. The quality and construction are decent as the plastic feels durable. The installation was surprisingly easy and quick, it took me about 10 minutes to install. The lights are decently bright and can be dimmed or change the color temperatures by using the remote controller or app. The center of the fixture does not get illuminated, but the center of the room beneath the fixture is still properly lit.The app is fairly basic and straightforward to use, but the app feels like it is incomplete. It is moderately user-friendly but lacks information, options and control. The app is useful for situations where you forgot to turn off the lights, but using the app to control your lights on a regular basis is not convenient especially if you have a slow device. Unfortunately, the app is not compatible with the SmartThings app which would’ve made it convenient to use. Generally, I control my smart devices/appliances using Google Home for voice controls, and the SmartThings app for physical (virtual) buttons and controls. SmartThings is good if you have many different brands/apps of smart devices and you need a central app that is universally compatible with them instead of having to go into each individual app to control them. SmartThings is an android app that is integrated into the notification bar and displays your smart devices for quick access (see attached screenshot photo).The remote controller works fine, but it isn’t as convenient as using google as you can set routines or ask google to control your lights for you. Aside from using the remote control, you can still use the light switch as normal, but the lights would turn back on in a different color. The posting says that if you leave the lights on for 20 seconds, it should be able to remember your color option for when you turn it on next time.Overall, my experience with this ceiling light fixture is positive and I like it, but coming from a smart bulb, I find this light to be less convenient. This ceiling light looks 10x better than what I had there before, but at the cost of convenience. The more I use it, the more I wish it was compatible with google home and SmartThings. If you are looking to add to your smart ecosystem, this is not it, but other than that, this is a really nice-looking ceiling light fixture that works well for the most part. Priced at $178.87, it is expensive and I would recommend waiting, maybe the price will go back down to $157.99.FIRST IMPRESSION/CONTENTS:The Modern 17" Sleek LED Ceiling Light 17” by TELANCY arrived with all hardware necessary for mounting, a pair of gloves to help keep your prints off the fixture during install, as well as very brief installation/operation instructions.Installation takes about 10 minutes. Simply attach supplied bracket with two provided screws, connect wiring appropriately, attach fixture to bracket by twisting a quarter inch and tighten two screws. Done.Aesthetically, this fixture is quite stylish, looks great and can go from super bright (and I DO mean bright) down to a dull glow (via the 3 temperature settings alone), however, I am unable to control the light with the supplied remote. The remote appears to be working (red LED lights up when buttons pressed), but it doesn't have any impact on the operation of the light. As it stands now, the light has 3 temperature settings that can be controlled by rapidly turning the light off and on. However, it doesn't seem to recall the last setting and every time I turn it on I am treated to a random temperature, as such, the light is completely useless to me.The included "instructions" provide no troubleshooting tips for the remote, or even how to pair the remote (assuming that's even the problem given that it choses a random colour temperature each time it's turned on). Further, neither the light nor the packaging have any visible safety certifications to indicate legitimate sale within Canada e.g. CSA, UL, ETL etc.Equally off-putting is that there's a QR code on the remote "instructions" that loop you to what's clearly a foreign site to install a questionable app on your mobile phone. No thanks.Also noteworthy, if you're looking to save on your energy bill by installing LED, this fixture consumes up to 47w (see markings in pictures) and gets quite warm to the touch when used on brightest temperature setting - clearly not Energy Star approved.Super disappointed. I really do like the design and look of this fixture, but given that it choses a random colour temperature on power-up, and the remote features are not working, this is headed to the bin. Oh, yes, I should also point out there were no batteries included, so there is that.I hope you found this review helpful to your decision making.
